Payment Technology in 2012: A Time of Transition

by

Deepak Wanner PEng MBA

President & CEO Precidia Technologies Inc

Synopsis: The retail payments industry in North America is in the midst of a dramatic transition. After many years of predictions, it appears that mobile payment is finally on the path to mainstream adoption. With Google, ISIS and PayPal all jockeying for position in the race towards the ‘Digital Wallet’, the only certainty is that change will happen – soon. As Dickson Chu, global head of digital networks and mobile at Citi said recently: "Get ready. Get your technology ready. The Wallet is open. Participate."

Deepak’s session will explore the technological evolution in payments, and how it has led to the state of the payments industry in 2012. From cardholder data security and EMV, to the customer-facing terminal and mobile payments, the session will shed light on the highly regulated and evolving world of payments.

Deepak Wanner is a leading authority on integrating credit card payments with Point of Sale (POS) devices, applications and websites. Building on early successes in Canada, which is the world leader in debit card acceptance, Deepak is a strong proponent of network management in POS. Deepak’s vision has helped merchants and other payment industry players realize the benefits of an actively managed POS solution. Deepak has presented at many industry conferences, including the Electronic Transaction Association (ETA) conference, NACSTech (National Association of Convenience Stores), FS/TEC (Food Service Technologies), ATMIA (ATM Industry Association) and RetailNOW (Retail Solutions Provider Conference).
